3er Planeta has been a key supporter of Initiative 20x20 in Colombia and formally joined as a technical partner in 2019. It has lent its expertise in multiple areas, but has played a distinct role in structuring, managing, and operating restoration projects to enable impact investments in Colombia. In particular, the organization has been key in identifying a pipeline of restoration projects in Colombia and advising project developers to improve the technical and financial feasibility of their projects. These efforts have been crucial in mobilizing capital for restoration opportunities in Colombia, serving as a blueprint to lead similar efforts across the Andean region.
3er Planeta has continued to play a convening role among national stakeholders in support of restoration by:
- identifying and prioritizing restoration areas;
- providing specialized technical assistance services in structuring, managing and operating restoration projects;
- designing strategies and projects to access carbon market mechanisms and payments for environmental services;
- developing models and monitoring systems for production systems and measures for adaptation and mitigation;
- creating alliances and coordinating with the stakeholders of Initiative 20x20, including the private sector, technical organizations and science, technology, research and innovation entities;
- providing training, outreach and communication in sustainable rural development;
- conducting analysis, registration, monitoring and offer for investment in GHG capture through events, projects or jurisdictions.
