CIMA is a Peruvian non-profit organization founded in 2002 with the goal of making a difference in the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. Since 2008, CIMA has managed the Cordillera Azul National Park (PNCAZ) on a 20-year management contract with the Peruvian government through the national park authority. Currently, CIMA has more than 50 employees in its 5 offices located throughout the Peruvian Northern Amazon region.
CIMA aims to contribute to Initiative 20x20 as a technical partner through the sustainable management of PNCAZ, the implementation of restoration initiatives, and the identification of new restoration opportunities in the PNCAZ buffer zone. CIMA engages local communities and authorities to make restoration on the ground more efficient and shares learning experiences in collaboration with scientific and academic institutions as well as other organizations in the region.
