Grupo de Países Productores del Sur (GPS) is a network of private institutions and experts from the agribusiness sector from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. As a network, GPS works jointly with public and private parties in the Southern Cone region to improve and advocate for sustainable agricultural production across the region and on the international stage.
GPS has followed with great interest the advances made by Initiative 20x20 since its launch at COP20 and find the Initiative's work to be complementary with its own objective to drive finance towards restoring degraded landscapes. GPS brings to the Initiative 20x20 a network relevant institutions and experts in the field of sustainable agricultural production and soils health.
At the same time, GPS participates in the international debate on agricultural sustainability and its emissions, both individually and with the collaboration of other institutions. GPS has significant experience engaging with country governments and other stakeholders on accounting for greenhouse gas emissions reductions, carbon removal, and the benefits of sustainable development.
GPS will engage with Initiative 20x20 by contributing to workshops and events as well as technical discussion related to measuring and incentivizing the impact of restoration.
