ICC is an NGO that aims to be a leading private institution for research and project development to mitigate and adapt to climate change in communities, productive processes and infrastructure, specifically in the Pacific Slope of Guatemala. ICC’s mission statement is to create and promote actions that facilitate climate change mitigation and adaptation in the region according to scientific guidelines and economic feasibility.
In addition to work on capacity building, water management, and greenhouse gas emission reduction, ICC also engages in the protection and restoration of forests and soil. ICC’s previous projects in restoration include a model of productive restoration of riparian forests in the hydrographic basins of the Coyolate and Acome rivers in the Pacific Slope of Guatemala and a plan to enrich and monitor the mangrove forest, Mazatenango, Suchitepequez.
