Dominican Republic has joined Initiative 20x20 through the “Quisqueya Verde Plan” and “2016-2020 Agroforestry Development Program” that includes silvopasture systems, agroforestry, agricultural landscapes and pristine areas. Both programs will contribute 89,000 hectares to a restoration process through silvopasture systems, agricultural and pristine lands. These activities will contribute to mitigate climate change effects through a reduction of emissions from land use and land use change and an increase in the country’s carbon sinks.
