Helvetas brings to Initiative 20x20 its experience, programs and new opportunities for collaboration.
Its Sustainable Management and Protection of Andean Forests against Climate Change (ANFOR) is part of the Global Climate Change Programme of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). ANFOR is facilitated by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and CONDESAN between 2014 and 2021.
Helvetas collaborates with WRI and Initiative 20x20 on improving knowledge on restoration efforts within mountain forests in the Andean region. The organization has more than 35 years of experience in supporting the rural population of the Andean Region, enabling it to face new challenges such as climate change through projects for small farmers. Its priority remains to protect the livelihood of Andean peoples through the sustainable use of natural resources such as water, land, grazing lands and forests.
Helvetas engages with Initiative 20x20 by contributing to relevant workshops and events as well as technical discussions related to measuring and incentivizing restoration within mountain forest landscapes in the region.
