WWF serves as a technical partner of Initiative 20x20 to to support the implementation of the Bonn Challenge and the New York Declaration on Forests in Latin America and the Caribbean.
WWF relies on a global network that allows the organization to combine local knowledge and expertise with global perspective and reach. WWF has long-term relationships with the private and public sectors and civil society, positioning the organization to act as facilitator for change. WWF has a long history of work on forest and landscape restoration and pioneered the concept with IUCN. The offices of WWF in Latin America and the Caribbean have taken up this concept and are implementing actions on the ground, as well as seeking to influence policy to further landscape restoration.
WWF shares the global goal of restoring 350 million hectares of forests and landscapes by 2030 and sees Initiative 20x20 as a key partner in the region and sd a platform that will help achieve this goal. The WWF network is present in more than 100 countries, but in the Latin America and Caribbean region it has offices and active field work in Belize, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Suriname.
WWF aims to create a world where humans live in harmony with nature. As a technical partner of Initiative 20x20, WWF looks forward to sharing lessons learned, contributing to Initiative 20x20's task forces, to the national restoration plans and policy, supporting regional integration and identifying new opportunities for landscape restoration. WWF's presence on the ground and policy influence will contribute importantly to the Initiative's goals.
