The Climate Institute was founded in 1986 as the world’s first organization focused solely on climate change. Headquartered in Washington D.C., the Institute uses media such as symposia, conferences and briefings to inform decision-makers, heighten awareness of climate change, and identify practical emission-reduction strategies.
The Institute has a two-fold mission. It seeks 1) to catalyse implementation of innovative solutions to climate change by supporting and collaborating with private, non-profit, and governmental organizations and 2) to provide non-partisan analysis of climate-related events, initiatives, and policies.
Current Institute projects focus on empowering vulnerable peoples to lead in climate protection, promoting “win-win” strategies that lower climate risk while benefiting consumers, and catalysing climate protection in Mexico and launching the Crispin Tickell Interactive Climate Network there.
Our involvement in Initiative 20×20 is:
- Conducting data collection, analysis, and documentation to illustrate the current and potential application of the monitoring of carbon stocks.
- Analysing the carbon offset market and providing information about transaction costs to reduce information discrepancies.
- Providing advice regarding carbon tax policy for Latin American countries.
