Join WRI’s Global Restoration Initiative in a webinar on the Institute’s first guidebook, Mapping Social Landscapes: A Guide to Identifying the Networks, Priorities, and Values of Restoration Actors. You will learn how mapping your social landscape can help build stronger local environmental movements.
Join the conversation: #SocialLandscapes, #ThinkLandscape
First, the speakers will provide an overview of how to analyze social landscapes. The second part of the webinar walks participants through one of the case studies, explaining how the WRI India team used social landscape analysis to improve awareness and coordination around restoration in India’s Sidhi district.
The guidebook takes a new approach to environmental governance by using social network analysis to identify which actors hold the most influence within a landscape – and which are disadvantaged. It centers on two main approaches:
-
Mapping the resource flows of actors
-
Mapping the priorities and values of actors
The guidebook focuses on restoration, but the same methodologies can be adapted to the broader topic of natural resource governance. By using this guidebook, environmental practitioners can be more efficient with resources, collaboration, and outreach, and better anticipate potential conflicts and bottlenecks.
