Founded in 2004, Climate Focus is an internationally recognized leader on climate change and land use policies, law, project design, and finance, with offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Washington D.C., and a Latin America headquarter in Bogotá, Colombia.
Climate Focus leads a range of regional projects related to developing and financing business models that reduce deforestation, restore degraded lands for diversified productive use, and conserve and restore natural ecosystems – thereby significantly contributing to the development of sustainable forest landscapes. The team takes a holistic approach to value chain transformation, working toward improved and diversified production systems, new and strengthened market linkages through value chain partnerships, efficient monitoring solutions and traceability, and innovative financial solutions for landowners. In this endeavor, Climate Focus regards the public and private sector as important allies and value strategic partnerships as a means for accelerating implementation.
Our Latin American projects, namely the development business models for sustainable cattle ranching, timber, cocoa, and other tree crops in the Orinoquía region of Colombia and the development of business models in cocoa and oil palm in the Ucayali department of Peru, have important synergies with the Initiative 20x20.
