The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) is the international organization specialized in agriculture within the Inter-American System. Its mission is to stimulate, promote and support the efforts of the Member States to achieve agricultural development and rural well-being through international technical cooperation of excellence. The the Institute's direct technical cooperation is implemented by focusing on actions in four strategic objectives: a) increase the contributions of the agricultural sector to economic growth and sustainable development, b) contribute to the well-being of all inhabitants in rural areas, c) improve international and regional trade in region's countries, and d ) increase resilience in rural territories and agricultural systems to extreme events.
The Institute provides cooperation through close and permanent work with its 34 Member States in the Americas, whose needs it serves in a timely manner. Without a doubt, its most valuable assets are the close relationship it maintains with the beneficiaries of its work and the permanent presence in all its member countries. During the 78 years of its institutional life, IICA has established itself as an organization that seeks the integration of agriculture with environmental aspects focused on consolidating low carbon and resilient systems that achieve long-term sustainable development.

1. IICA offers technical cooperation related to sustainable agriculture, low-carbon production systems and climate-smart agriculture that restore degraded lands to enhance their productivity.
2. The Institute has extensive experience in extension services, which contribute to effective participation at the community level and to the development of local technical capacities. These programs ensure the sustainability of the actions carried out.
3. It has offices in each of its 34 Member States, which allow the Institute's technical and administrative capacity to be broad, enables activities to be carried out in various countries through flexible and transparent resource management models, and facilitates the mobilization of specialized professionals based in any of the offices.
4. IICA offers state-of-the-art technical cooperation in the bioeconomy, biotechnology, innovation and agriculture 4.0 that allow the development of restoration schemes for degraded areas that respond to the current demands and needs of the countries of the region.
